Faculty/Staff Impact
On March 6, 2006,
Clayton State will migrate from identifying faculty and staff
members by their Social Security numbers to using a unique
identifier called the LakerID#. This effort will help protect
individual privacy and confidentiality. The change in business
practices is the result of a new University policy,
Social Security Number Usage and Protection Policy
(coming soon). Policy and process implementation will
begin March 6, 2006, with planned completion by March 20, 2006.
Current Faculty and Staff Members
Each department on
campus will be required to comply with the new Social Security
Number Usage and Protection Policy. In order to comply, all
departmental policies, procedures, and forms must be updated by
March 20, 2006, to reflect the use of the LakerID# instead of the
SSN, where appropriate.
During the conversion
process on March 6, Banner will be unavailable. LakerCard services
will be limited (no deposits or card production during conversion).
Copying with the LakerCard will be available.
To assist with the
transition to the LakerID#, a web application will be available so
you can
look up
your LakerID# number. You will receive an email immediately
following the conversion which will contain a link to the LakerID#
look-up site. In addition, the link will be available on the
University’s homepage, the Current Students webpage, The DUCK, and
the Alumni Services website.
You will be able to
continue logging on to these applications using your Social Security
number until the end of Spring Semester 2006.
Human Resources
currently accesses employee records by last name. Future use of the
LakerID# for accessing payroll and personnel records is being
considered.
Please review the
Student Impact page. Familiarize yourself with the
changes that students should expect so that you may help them
through this transition.
