Admissions Application Policy

Request to move my application to a new semester

Clayton State has two categories for students requesting to have their application moved to a new semester - reactivate or deferral.

  • Reactivate
You can request to have your application reactivated, if you have not submitted the required materials to complete your application or if you were previously accepted to Clayton and are now pursuing additional academic coursework which requires us to reevaluate your academic progress.
  • Deferral
You can request a deferment, only if you have been admitted to Clayton State and are not pursuing additional academic coursework.

All requests must be submitted in writing and sent to the Office of Undergraduate Admissions, 2000 Clayton State Boulevard, Morrow, GA 30260.

Your request should include:

  • your LakerID#
  • any documents missing from your admission file
  • and the reason(s) that you would like to have your application reactivated or deferred.

Please note, admissions files are held for one year from the date that the student originally applied for admission to Clayton State University.

Students who were previously denied admissions to Clayton State University are not eligible to reactivate their application file. You must submit a new application and fee. Also, you must submit new credentials that show a change in your academic portfolio (i.e. new test scores, transcript, etc.).

If you have previously enrolled in classes at Clayton State University for credit, complete a Readmission form in the Office of the Registrar.

Policy for Reviewing and Approving Admissions Applicants with Felony Convictions

The institution has the right to examine and appraise the character, personality, and qualifications of its applicants, per Board of Regents policy (402.0303), and such applicants may be required to furnish related information in order for the institution to make this examination.

CSU applicants who indicate on their admission application that they have been convicted of a felony will be asked to provide specific information related to the felony violation to the Office of the Vice President for Student Affairs. The information requested may include, but is not limited to, the following:

  • Specific information about the felony conviction (including description of charges, penalties, probation, etc.)
  • Copies of court documents outlining charges and case resolution
  • Judicial records from any college or university previously attended
  • Documentation of successful employment
  • Letters of reference

At the time this information is requested, a prospective student’s application will be precluded from further consideration, pending a review of the felony information by a university committee. This committee will consist of appointed representatives from Offices of Academic Affairs, Student Affairs, Admissions, and Public Safety.

Upon review of the felony information by the Committee, a recommendation will be sent to the Vice President of Student Affairs on whether the applicant is suitable for admission or poses a threat to the safety of the University community.

The Vice President of Student Affairs, or his designee, upon receiving the review committee’s recommendation, will communicate his/her decision in writing to the applicant and the Office of Admissions.
