Limited Admissions
Students who meet the minimum standards may be eligible for "limited" admission but not for "regular" admission. The limited admission student will be reviewed by the Admission Appeals Committee, and a limited number of students will be admitted based on the Committee's judgment of the applicants' likelihood for academic success. Students admitted in this status may be required to take additional placement tests and may be required by the institution to take Learning Support courses if indicated by test results.
Calculating the Freshman Index
** FI = SATCR + SATM + (500 x recalculated HSGPA (based on the 16 CPC units). The University recalculates the High School GPA using the courses that fulfill the CPC requirements.
Provisional Admission CategoryClayton State has established a Learning Support Partnership Agreement with Georgia Perimeter College. Beginning fall 2007, GPC will teach learning support MATH 0097 and READ 0098 on the Clayton State campus.
Traditional freshmen whose highest SAT Math score is less than 450 or less than 18 on the ACT have been identified to participate in the program pending their ACCUPLACER test results. The results of the test will determine placement into the appropriate mathematics course. The ACCUPLACER must be taken prior to orientation.
If the ACCUPLACER score show placement into MATH 0097, the course will be taken through Georgia Perimeter College (transient student status) on the Clayton State campus. Students in the provisional category will be limited to 13 semester hours of combined credit hours between both institutions.
If the ACCUPLACER score shows placement into MATH 0099 or higher, the student will be cleared for full-time study at Clayton State and will no longer be in the provisional admission category.
Students admitted provisionally will be required to sign a Provisional Admission Contract during orientation and must participate in academic support activities such as tutoring, workshops and advising during their first semester at Clayton State.
