Clayton State University School of Business

College, Schools and Degrees

A. Colleges and Schools

The academic programs at Clayton State University (CSU) are organized into five academic colleges and/or schools:

College/School
College of Arts and Sciences
College of Information and Mathematical Studies
School of Business
School of Nursing
School of Graduate Studies

B. Majors

CSU offers a wide variety of majors. Currently, the university offers several Master degree programs, a wealth of Baccalaureate and Associate Degrees programs in addition to applied degree and certificate programs.

Some programs require admission into the upper division courses. Students will be listed as “pre” majors until they complete the admission process required by that program. Some programs that require admission are: Business, Communication and Media Studies, Dental Hygiene, Music, Nursing and Teacher Education.

c. Minors

Clayton State offers a variety of minor programs for students to enrich the overall educational experiences. Minors are not required for graduation, and certain minors are available only to students in specific majors. Careful planning is required for students enrolled in a minor. Completion of a minor often requires additional credit hours beyond those needed for graduation. To declare or change a minor the student should complete the Change/Addition of a Minor form.

The form is then taken to the department hosting the minor (see department listing below). The department is responsible for entering the minor into BANNER. A minor must also be declared during the graduation application process. Students should consult both their major advisor and the minor representative listed below each minor for course planning and sequencing.

D. Pre-Professional Programs and Transfer Programs

Clayton State offers pre-professional and transfer programs including Associate of Science degree programs in pre-engineering and pre-pharmacy. Faculty Advisors are available within the College of Arts and Sciences to assist students in selecting courses appropriate for these fields. Students interested in these programs must be sure to declare a major in an appropriate field while enrolled at Clayton State.

E. Dual Degree/Major

Dual degrees/majors are available to CSU students. Students pursuing a dual major in two different areas will be required to meet the school/college requirements in both majors and will need to seek advisement in both areas. Careful planning is required and students need to be informed that a dual major will lengthen their time to earn a degree.

Residency requirements apply. Consult with your Academic Dean regarding specific requirements.
