Morrow, Ga., December 1, 2006 – As the saying goes, "membership has its privileges." That statement has never rang more true for Clayton State Alumni in regards to becoming a member of the Clayton State Alumni Association.

The CSU Alumni Association has announced an expansion of its benefits to members and will begin a membership drive in the coming weeks to inform Alumni of some of these new opportunities. Yearly dues to become a member of the Association are $25.

"We have been working several months to expand our membership package, and we will continue to work to improve the package in the future," said Gid Rowell, Director of Alumni Relations.

One of the newest elements of the membership program is a partnership with the Liberty Mutual Insurance Group, allowing Association members the opportunity to receive a discount rate on insurance. The Association will be releasing more information on this partnership in the coming weeks.

"This partnership with Liberty Mutual will be a "win-win" for both our Alumni and the Association," said Association President Dina Swearngin.

The partnership calls for Clayton State Alumni participating in the Liberty Mutual’s Group Plan to receive up to a 12 percent discount on rates, and the Association will receive 1 to 2 percent from the policies that are written.

In addition, there are several other new benefits, including a 25 percent discount on courses through the University’s Continuing Education Center and free admission to all home Clayton State Athletic events. A complete listing of Continuing Education classes can be found at http://conted.clayton.edu/. CSU, a NCAA Division II program, hosts a number of men’s and women’s soccer matches and men’s and women’s basketball games each year.

Benefits also include a reduced rate to the school’s SmartBodies Fitness Center located in the Athletics & Fitness Center. For more information about SmartBodies, please visit its website at http://healthsci.clayton.edu/smartbodies/default.htm.

Members will receive a number of publications, including the Clayton State Alumni newsletter, published six times a year, and the Laker Connection magazine, published once a year. Members will also be on the group’s mailing list for all special events.

Two additional campus services for Association members are borrowing privileges at the Clayton State Library along with use of the Career Services Department.

For more information about becoming a member of the Alumni Association and any of the benefits, please contact Gid Rowell, Director of Alumni Relations, at (678) 466-4477 or by email at gidrowell@clayton.edu. The Clayton State Alumni Association will also be conducting a membership drive by phone, informing alumni of the new benefits.
