What is GTP?
GTP stands for Guaranteed Tuition Program.
How does that affect me?
The University System of Georgia's 35 colleges and universities began this program in the fall of 2006. New freshman entering 4 year colleges/universities that semester were "guaranteed" tuition rate for 12 consecutive semesters.
How does that help me?
The fixed tuition program gives students and parents the ability to plan out their expenses for their child's education.
What if I'm not finished in four years?
If it takes a student over four years to graduate they will have to pay a different tuition rate in their fifth year of 13th semester.
I live in campus housing; do I have to have a meal plan?
Yes
I owe a balance because I lost my housing key, can I still register or graduate?
No. Services will be withheld until the debt is paid.
During the semester an audit of accounts found an error in my charges, like a lab fee was tacked on after classes began. Am I responsible for paying it?
Yes.
What if I don't?
A hold will be placed on your account and services will be withheld until the debt is paid. We are required to correct any errors made as soon as they are discovered.
When are payments due?
Full payment of tuition, fees, housing, and meal plan is due on or before the published fee dead but no later than the first day of class each semester. Please check the tuition due date on the web or at the bottom of you schedule/bill. It is important that payment should be received by the payment due date which is noted on your schedule bill and web site.
If I add or drop a class during the schedule adjustment period, when it my tuition due?
If you are adding or dropping classes during the schedule adjustment period, your bill must be paid in full at the time you add the class, but no later than the last day of schedule adjustment. Do not wail to be billed. If you drop a class during that period, you will receive a 100% refund for that course and it will be processed and available on your HigherOne card in about 2 weeks. (Be sure to activate your card and choose your refund preference.)
What are the consequences if I don't pay?
In addition to a Late fee of $100.00, your account will be placed on hold. Students with an outstanding account balance will not be permitted to receive transcripts or allowed to register for subsequent semesters until the bill is paid in full. It may be possible to make payment arrangements through the Bursar’s Office. Check with us to see if you are eligible.
How are payments from outside sources applied to my account?
Scholarship payments are credited to the student account by the Bursar and Financial Aid offices.
When will my book money be available?
It is normally available for you 3 days before classes begin and rolls back to your student account after the schedule adjustment period.
Can I pick-up my refund?
We no longer process refund checks. We use a third party service who will allow you to choose the delivery of your refund. Go to www.claytonstateonecard.com.
How much money will be put on my LakerCard?
The maximum amount available after tuition/fees are paid is up to $700.00
What if I need more than that?
You will have to come out of pocket and be reimbursed when you receive your refund after school starts.
Can you tell me how much my refund is for?
You should be able to view your account information on the Duck. We cannot give this information over the phone.
What happens if I don't use all of my book money?
It will roll back to your student account from your Laker card and be sent to you by refund through Higher One.
When will I get my refund?
A file will be sent to Higher One after the schedule adjustment period ends and financial aid is posted and made available on your account.
Compliance with federal regulation will be met.
I have been through orientation and registered for classes. I have applied for financial aid, but I haven't received my award letter. Do I have to pay my fees myself?
Yes, tuition and fees must be paid in full by the final fee deadline.
I have a private scholarship. Can I get the scholarship as pocket money to cover my living expenses?
We must abide by the guidelines set forth by the institution and or donor of the scholarship. Unless stated by donor, scholarships may be refunded to you to aid in your living expenses associated with your enrollment.
If I have several different awards will I receive a refund for each award or will they be combined?
If everything that is on your account when we run the process to create a refund file all your awards will be paid to you by the method you choose with Higher One.
Why does it take so long to process my refund?
The Bursar's Office works very hard to ensure you that you get your refund within the Federal guidelines set forth. Due to the volume of refunds we are processing at that time of the term, we must go through a series of checks and balances before we can release the refund file to Higher One. Go to www.claytonstateonecard.com to review and choose your refund option.
I have a situation and I need my money. Is there something I can do to get it sooner?
Refund files are sent to Higher One as soon as we are certain all compliance standards and guidelines have been met.
How can I change my address?
You may change it on the Duck or in the Registrar's office. Make sure you also change your information with Higher One.
I received notice from the lender that my disbursement date was Monday, today is Friday and I still have not received it. What is the problem? I need my money!
The disbursement date is the date that the lender EFT's the money to the school's bank. It will take a couple of days for the bank to post it to the college account. The Financial Aid office will go through a series of final processes and make it available or post the loan to your student account. The Bursar's office then has 14 days after the posting date to send a file to Higher One.
I can't pay all my fees at once do you have a payment plan?
No we follow the Board of Regents policy and payment must be in full by the fee deadline.
If I don't pay in full by the final fee deadline will I be dropped?
Yes
When will you be dropping?
After the registration fee payment deadline, again after the late registration fee payment deadline and a final drop is done after the schedule adjustment period fee payment deadline.
When is the fee deadline?
It is posted on the Duck.
What happens to my money after it leaves the bookstore?
It rolls back to your student account so we can balance and begin the refund process.
Is financial aid or loan money available on my LakerCard all the time?
No, it is only available during the first part of the term so that we can balance your account and send you the refund as soon as possible.
Can I be exempt from fees I don't use?
No, all fees are mandatory and approved by the Board of Regents.
What form of payment is accepted?
Cash, checks, credit cards, money orders, cashier checks, debit cards.
Can a Credit Card number be taken over the phone?
No, we need a signature of authorization. You can pay on the Duck or our campus drop box.
