Black History Month

Our theme for this year's Black History Month is
is
Carter G.
Woodson and
The Origins of Multiculturalism: “Embracing our
Past and Reaffirming our Identity.”
Dr. Carter G. Woodson (December 1875-April 1950) was an African
American historian, author, journalist and the founder of Black
History Month. Carter G. Woodson stressed the
significance of young Black Americans knowing
their past in order to become productive citizens in their
society. Through the various activities that will take place
during
BHM at Clayton State, we hope to inspire individuals from all
ethnic groups to embrace and become proud of their heritage.
By understanding our history, we will have a better grasp on who
we are, our values, and hopefully we will be motivated to exceed
the expectations of our ancestors and will be able to
participate intelligently in the affairs of our country.
