Alpha Sigma Alpha Sorority
Alpha Sigma Alpha is a women’s organization that exists to promote high ideals and standards for its members throughout their lives by emphasizing balance among the four aims of intellectual, physical, social and spiritual development. Alpha Sigma Alpha Sorority was founded on November 15, 1901 at The State Female Normal School, now Longwood University, in Farmville, Va., the first institution of higher learning in Virginia to admit women for collegiate study. “The purpose of the association shall be to cultivate friendship among its members, and in every way to create pure and elevating sentiments, to perform such deeds and to mould such opinions as will tend to elevate and ennoble womanhood in the world.” Alpha Sigma Alpha provides structure and guidance through sisterhood, heritage, and opportunities for leadership and involvement in chapter, campus and community.
Alpha Sigma Alpha is in its colonization phase at Clayton State University and is currently recruiting qualified and interested ladies. Nationally, Alpha Sigma Alpha has 72 collegiate chapters and 78 alumnae chapters. More than 67,000 members are committed to promoting sisterhood, heritage and leadership.
