Department of Campus Life
Multicultural Programs and Services
Safe Space Training

The Safe Space program is
sponsored by the Department of
Counseling and Psychological Services,
Gay-Straight Alliance, and Department of
Campus Life and the objectives are:
(1) to provide a supportive
environment for lesbian, gay, bisexual
and transgender (LGBT) members of the
campus community, (2) increase
the visible presence of lesbian, gay,
bisexual and transgender (LGBT) allies
and places that are “safe” for LGBT
students across campus and (3)
dismiss negative stereotypes and present
accurate information about the LGBT
population.
Safe Space Trainings are held twice per
semester for students, faculty, and
staff of Clayton State. Individuals who
have completed the Safe Space Training
may post the Safe Space symbol at their
offices, backpacks, or binders as a way
to designate themselves as safe allies
for LGBT students, colleagues and
friends.
