5. How to become a more effective speaker
Summary:
As a leader, you are called upon to speak before groups. Does this create more than a little stress in your daily routine? Do you feel like you have butterflies in your stomach? Well, this session will help you get those butterflies flying in formation.
According to “The Book of Lists”, speaking in public is the number one fear held by most people. This seminar will give you some pointers on how to overcome those fears and become a better speaker. You will be given instruction on how to prepare and deliver more effective speeches. Have you ever met a leader that could not effectively communicate to the group that they lead? Learn how you can become a more effective communicator.Availability:

6. Systems, Power and Leadership
Summary:
This workshop will examine various forms of systems and power and how effective leaders can use their understanding of them to navigate their way to success. In addition, this workshop will review underlying assumptions of institutional systems (education, judicial, etc.) and how they impact various groups.

Ever heard of the expression, there is no "I" in team? Well, it is true. In teams, it is important for everyone to work together. During this workshop, you will learn the theory behind teamwork and how to develop a complete and cohesive unit.

8. Dealing With Difficult People: An Introduction to Conflict Resolution
Summary:
Conflict is an inevitable part of our environment whether it be at home, work, or in the organization to which we belong. This session will discuss the nature of conflict, why it occurs, and how conflict can be both positive and negative. Participants will gain insight into their own abilities for managing conflict situations and learn strategies for achieving successful outcomes when disputes occur.

9. Peer Mediation Training
Summary:
Students that complete this training will be eligible to participate on the new Student Peer Mediation Team.
A fee of $15.00 must be paid (payable to Clayton State) within two business days of registering and sent or delivered to the Office of Student Conduct (University Center 250). Only personal checks, money orders, or cash accepted for payment. Workshop includes all needed materials and a Peer Mediation Team t-shirt.
