Learning Support Probation & Suspension

Learning Support Students:

Any student required to take MATH 0099 and/or ENGL 0099 will be placed on Learning Support probation if he or she fails the course the first time it is taken.

Students who fail to complete MATH 0099 and/or ENGL 0099 within two attempts will be dismissed from the University for a minimum of three years. An “attempt” is any course enrollment that results in a grade other than W or V.  (IP is considered an attempt.)

Upon dismissal, students may appeal for one additional attempt. However, appeals will only be considered in extreme extenuating circumstances when there is compelling evidence of a high likelihood of success in the final attempt with the endorsement of the course instructor.

Following the three-year dismissal period, students may re-apply to the University and file an appeal for readmission. All appeals must be filed with the Readmission Appeals Committee in the Registrar’s Office.

Attempts at Learning Support courses are cumulative within the University System of Georgia.

Provisionally Admitted Students:

Provisionally admitted students who do not successfully complete MATH 0097 (GPMA 0097) and/or READ 0098 (GPRD 0098) during their first semester will be ineligible to continue at Clayton State; however, they will be eligible for a seamless transfer to Georgia Perimeter College. They can reapply to Clayton State upon completion of an approved Associate’s Degree.
