Learning Support Policies and Regulations:

Learning Support Students

Required Learning Support students must enroll in Learning Support courses prior to or at the same time they enroll in college-level credit courses.

If students are enrolled in both Learning Support courses and credit courses, they cannot withdraw from a Learning Support  course and stay enrolled in credit level courses.

Students who are required to take Learning Support courses must complete these courses before they earn 20 semester hours of graduation applicable credit. Students who have not done so by that point may only enroll in Learning Support  courses until they exit LS.

All Learning Support  students will have a registration hold placed on their records until they successfully complete all required Learning Support courses.

All Learning Support students are advised by the Center for Academic Success.

 Provisionally Admitted Students

Students required to take MATH 0097 (GPMA 0097) and/or READ 0098 (GPRD 0098)will be provisionally admitted to Clayton State and will enroll in these courses as transient GPC students. Students required to take MATH 0099 and/or ENGL 0099 will be granted regular admission to Clayton State, but must follow all University System of Georgia Learning Support (LS) requirements. Depending upon the courses required, some students will participate in both programs.

Students will attend Georgia Perimeter College classes on the Clayton State University campus. Tuition and fees will be paid to Clayton State University.

Students are eligible to enroll in no more than 13 total credit hours between both institutions provided they meet course prerequisites.

If students are enrolled in both Learning Support courses and credit courses, they cannot withdraw from a Learning Support course and stay enrolled in credit level courses.

Students who do not successfully complete MATH 0097 (GPMA 0097)and/or READ 0098 (GPRD 0098) during their first semester will be ineligible to continue at Clayton State; however, they will be eligible for a seamless transfer to GPC. They can reapply to Clayton State upon completion of an approved Associate’s Degree.

Students will be required to sign a Provisional Admission Contract and must participate in a specific number of academic success workshops, study/tutoring sessions, and academic advising sessions.

All provisionally admitted students will have a registration hold placed on their records until they successfully complete all required Learning Support courses.
