Transient Study

Who is a Transient Student?

Transient students are students that take classes at another institution without transferring. Federal regulations prohibit students from receiving Title IV financial aid funds from more than one school during the same semester/quarter.

Transient Study Procedures for:

Clayton State University Students
Non-Clayton State University Students

Clayton State University Students: students that attend another school as transient
Federal Aid (pell grant, stafford loans, ACG, SMART grant etc)


Clayton State University will be the home school and the visiting school will be considered the host school. Clayton State University Students attending another institution must do the following:

1.  Obtain permission in writing from Clayton State University’s Registrars Office to be a transient student.

2.  Register and pay out of pocket for the courses at host institution.

3.  Obtain Clayton State University’s Financial Aid Consortium Agreement Form. Click Here

4.  Complete student’s portion of the Financial Aid Consortium Agreement Form & submit to the host school’s financial aid office.

5.  The host school should then complete & submit to Clayton State University’s Financial Aid Office the Financial Aid Consortium Agreement Form. (Fax 678-466-4189 or mail 2000 Clayton State Blvd, Morrow, GA 30260)

6.  Clayton State University’s Financial Aid Office will then disburse previously awarded financial aid for the transient term based off of the total number of hours that the student is enrolled at Clayton State University & the host institution.

7.  Receive refund disbursed by the Bursars Office.

***It is the student’s responsibility to make sure that the Registrar’s Office at Clayton State University receives a final copy of your academic transcript from the host school after the transient term is over.

HOPE Scholarship

Students, who are HOPE Scholarship recipients and wish to attend another school as transient, must notify Clayton State University’s Financial Aid Office of this intention.  Information that must be given to the Financial Aid Office must include the school the student would like to attend as transient and for what term. A HOPE Scholarship Eligibility Certificate for Transient Study will be submitted to the Financial Aid Office of the host school. The host school will disburse your HOPE funds at the host institution.

***It is the student’s responsibility to make sure that the Registrar’s Office at Clayton State University receives a final copy of your academic transcript from the host school after the transient term is over.

Non-Clayton State University Students: students that attend Clayton State University as a transient student
 

If Clayton State University is not your home school, you are not eligible for financial aid through Clayton State University. You must contact your home school's financial aid office to see what aid might be available to you while attending here. You must also make payment arrangements with the Bursar's Office here at Clayton State University regardless of any aid that may be processed by your home institution.

If your home school provides a Consortium Agreement, these forms will be completed by our office after the drop/add period of the term you are attending.

HOPE Scholarship

 If you are eligible for the HOPE Scholarship, your home institution must notify Clayton State University of your eligibility by submitting a HOPE Scholarship Eligibility Certificate for Transient Study.
