Veterans Information
The Department of Veteran Affairs has regulations regarding satisfactory academic progress (SAP) and course enrollments, which Clayton State University is required to observe and enforce. It is your responsibility to read this information and adhere to the outlined policies:
Understand that every semester you register and choose to use VA benefits, you are responsible for paying tuition and fees.
In order to receive VA benefits, you must declare a major and have official acceptance to Clayton State University. This major must be stated on your application for benefits. If you are enrolled in a certificate major and take any degree level courses, you will not be paid for the degree level courses.
If you wish to change your education objective, you must submit a request for change of major (VA form 22-1995).
Credit for prior training is required. Therefore all students requesting VA benefits must have official transcripts submitted to the school and have them evaluated.
You must notify the Veteran Affairs Office of any changes in your enrollment status, including:
- Change of major
- Change of address
- Expected Graduation date
- Any academic problems
- Withdrawal or increase in hours
You must take courses that are in your approved major. If you are found taking courses outside of your major, your benefits will be reduced whether it is in the beginning, middle, or end of a semester or during a subsequent semester.
Please read the school’s policy concerning academic probation/suspension. VA follows the same policy.
All chapter 30 veterans are responsible to verify enrollment at the end of every month. You can call in your verification at 1-877-823-2378 or via internet at: www.gibill.va.gov, and click on Wave and follow the instructions.

- Repeating a course that you have a grade of “D or better, unless the course is a prerequisite for other required courses; and department policy requires a grade of “C or better.
- Courses that are not required for your major.
