Policies
ClaytonState University faculty may check out
an unlimited number of circulating books. The faculty loan period expires at the end of
each semester. A valid Laker card must be presented in order to check out items. Faculty
members are not charged late fees. However, faculty members or their department will
be billed for the replacement cost of lost or damaged library materials.
Reference books and periodicals may be checked out for two
(2) days. Faculty may check out audio-visual materials to prepare for class or for
personal use with no limit on the number of AV items for the duration of a semester.
There are two book deposits. One is located inside the
library at the circulation desk. The other is located outside the front of the library for
use during those times when the building is closed. Audio-visual items should be returned
inside the library.
Any faculty employed in one of the University
System of Georgia or ARCHE institutions may check out books from another institution in
the system by presenting a valid interlibrary use or a valid
university photo I.D. The interlibrary use card
must be obtained from
the library of the institution where the faculty is employed. CSU

How do I check out library materials?
Your Laker card serves as your library card.
To check out library materials from CSU, you will need to have
your Laker card with you when you visit the library. To
check out library materials from USG libraries, you will first
need to verify that your CSU Circulation patron record is
current. Your Laker card serves as a valid form of ID to
check out materials from USG institutions. To check out
library materials from local ARCHE institutions, please acquire
an interlibrary use card each semester.
- What is a GALILEO password? A GALILEO password allows
faculty to access GALILEO (Georgia Library Learning Online) off campus. Only use the
password if you are not accessing Peachnet from the CSU server.
The password changes each semester and should
be entered in lowercase letters.
- Where and how can I get
my password? You can get the password
from any library staff member. You can also access the GALILEO
password online through the Get
GALILEO Password feature of GIL@CSU, the online catalog.
- Do I need a password for any other sources? Yes.

- Can I borrow books without my Laker card?
No. Faculty
must present a valid Laker card in order to borrow library materials.
- Can I renew books without my Laker card? Yes. All
borrowed materials maybe renewed without a
Laker card under the following conditions. (1)
The materials are not overdue. (2) Another borrower has not requested the materials.
- Can I renew books over the phone? Yes. Call the
Circulation/Reserves Desk at

- How many books can I check out at one time? Faculty may
borrow an unlimited number of books.
- How long can I keep a book(s)? Faculty may borrow books
for the entire semester.
- How long can I keep a video? Faculty may borrow videos for
the entire semester.
- How do I make photocopies? The photocopier for faculty
use is located in the lower level of the library.
