Course Reserves

Locating Reserve Items

Use the Course Reserves section of GIL to find materials currently on reserve by instructor, department or course.  How to Search Course Reserves.

The Reserves collection is located at the Circulation/Reserves Desk.  Students should ask for materials by giving the course name and course number, then the title of the item.  A valid Laker card is required of all students to check out reserve materials.

Reserve materials should be promptly returned to the Circulation/Reserves Desk's book drop before the loan period expires to avoid overdue fines.   Students will be held responsible for any lost or damaged reserve materials charged to their library record.

Types of Reserves

2-hour, Library Use Only

Two-hour reserve items are due back two hours from the time the materials are checked out or before the library closes. These items DO NOT LEAVE THE LIBRARY. Students can check out multiple two-hour reserve items at a time, within reason. At this time there are no overdue fines for two-hour reserve items.

Overnight

Overnight reserve items are due back before closing time of the library's next business day. For example, if an item is checked out on Thursday, then the item is due back before 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Students can check out 2 overnight items at a time. An overdue fine of $10.00 per item, per day will accrue for late items.

7-Day

7-Day reserve items are a weekly check out. These items are due back before closing time of the 7th day. Students can check out only one 7-Day reserve item at a time. An overdue fine of $10.00 per day will accrue for late items.
