The Panel will elect the Chair from its membership.
Members are elected by the School for one-year terms, and are not eligible for re-election to a consecutive term. The Panel will elect its chair from its elected membership. The immediate past chairperson serves to provide continuity. He/she may not serve as chair and must have at least one year off of the Panel before being eligible to be elected again. Department heads, associate deans, deans are not eligible for election.
Responsibilities: The Advisory Panel for the Smith Faculty Award coordinates the procedures for selecting the nominee for the Smith Faculty Award and recommends the recipient to the VPAA. The Panel may recommend to the VPAA revisions of the established selection procedures; changes in these procedures require approval by the President.

Responsibilities: This panel is responsible for reviewing applications for internal grants and advising the VPAA regarding the aware thereof. (Making recommendations concerning guidelines for the awarding grants is the responsibility of the Instructional Development Coordinating Committee.)
Membership: School members are appointed or elected as determined by the school. Members serve one-year terms and may be re-elected/re-appointed. The chair is designated by the VPAA.
Responsibilities: To advise the VPAA and academic deans on goals and needs for institutional development including instructional technology. The committee will also enhance coordination of instructional development activities among the schools and other academic units. This committee will recommend guidelines for the awarding of internal grants.
School representatives are appointed by the dean for one-year terms. Reappointment is permissible.
Responsibility: To advise the VPAA and CLE Director concerning operation and continued development of the Center.
Membership: School representatives are appointed by deans. Reappointment is permissible.
Responsibility: To advise the Library Director, AVPAA, and VPAA regarding the operation of the Library and how it can best serve the needs of faculty and students.
Membership: Ex officio members, except for director and Associate Vice President for Academic Affairs, may make temporary or standing designation.
Responsibilities: To advise key administrators concerning the campus-wide Institutional Research function and to advise the Director of IR and AVPAA concerning the operation of the IR Office.
Membership: School representatives are appointed by deans. Reappointment is permissible.
Responsibilities: The Honors Program Council provides counsel and assistance to the Honors Program Coordinator in the operation of the program and advises the AVPAA and VPAA on program policy. Within established policy, the Council establishes procedures for recruitment and acceptance of students and for other operations of the program.
Membership: School representatives are appointed by deans. Reappointment is permissible.
Responsibility: To advise the Campus International Coordinator, the AVPAA, and VPAA concerning Study Abroad programs and other efforts to internationalize the curriculum and academic life of the University.
Membership: The dean will appoint a department head in schools without and associate dean.
Responsibilities: Hears appeals concerning denial of admission on academic grounds. The Director of Recruitment, the AVPSES, the Registrar, the Assistant Registrar or the applicant may submit cases for the committee’s decision. Three members will constitute a quorum for hearing routine appeals within established guidelines and precedents. A quorum of five is required to establish guidelines or to hear exceptional cases.

Quorum notes: Five CAPC members will constitute a quorum. In the event that a panel cannot be chosen from current members of CAPC due to conflict of interest, involvement in the case, etc., the VPAA may designate former elected members of Curriculum & Academic Policy Council [Academic Affairs Committee] to serve.
Responsibilities: To hear appeals in accordance with the academic appeal process as published in the Student Handbook , Academic Catalog, and Faculty Manual.
Responsibilities and charges: The Campus Services Committee is responsible for promoting effective communication about and coordination of the services provided to students and colleagues by the offices represented on the committee and the subcommittees including, but not necessarily limited to admission, orientation, advisement, registration, payment, financial aid, campus store. In addition, the Campus Services committee is charged to study and make recommendations concerning improved campus services policies and procedures. Academic issues such as admission standards, graduation requirements, curriculum development, etc. remain the purview of the Curriculum and Academic Policy Council and the Faculty Council.
