Spring 2008
Class
Schedule and
Registration
Guide
As you prepare to
pre-enroll for Spring Sessions you will notice that the University has expanded
its class schedule such that courses are offered in a MWF and TTh format. You will also note that more classes are
scheduled on Saturday. These changes have been implemented so that CSU
can meet the demands of continued enrollment growth and the conversion of some
classrooms to laboratory
These facility
changes and our enrollment growth dictate that we move our regular class
schedule to the MWF/TT format. This new format changes the “dead time” on
TTh to MWF. So, on MWF we will not
have classes between 12:20 and 1:30. We will have classes
on TTh from 7:30 am until 4:20 pm in 75
minute blocks. The evening schedule beginning at 4:30 pm remains
unchanged.
1. Log on to the Digital University Campus Kiosk (DUCK). Use any computer with access to the Internet; just go to www.clayton.edu. You will need your PIN in order to register through the DUCK. If you have forgotten your PIN and have not established a secret reminder question in the DUCK, you must personally appear in the Registrar’s Office with proof of identification to have a new PIN issued. For security reasons, requests to change your PIN will not be accepted by phone or e-mail.
2. Check the DUCK to see if you have any holds. This information is available on the DUCK after you log in to Personal Access. Select the Registration menu and then select "Check your Registration Status." If you have holds (other than Learning Support), contact the appropriate office to make payment or otherwise remove the hold. You will not be permitted to register until the hold is removed. If you have a Learning Support hold, you must be advised and registered by a Learning Support advisor in the Center for Academic Success (lower Library).
3. Review with your advisor your academic record and graduation requirements to determine what courses you need to take. You can check your Academic Summary under DUCK personal access from the Registration menu. Official graduation requirements for your major are listed in the Clayton State Academic Catalog. Faculty advisors are available to help you with this process on a required or optional basis, but you should review your record and requirements before you see an advisor.
4. Decide on the number and types of full-semester and partial-semester courses you want to take. You may find partial semester courses more convenient to schedule in order to accommodate other demands. Another advantage for some partial semester courses is that you can complete a prerequisite course in the first half and then take the subsequent course in the second half. Partial semester courses are listed in a special group following the full-session listings. This semester there are partial semester courses in the following subjects: COMM, NURS, OFFC, and TECH. See the subject listings for details.
5. Prepare a tentative schedule of classes. You should write down your anticipated course schedule using the “Schedule Planner,” which is included in this booklet. Be sure to plan some alternatives in case any of the sections you desire are closed.
6. Check your registration time. To find the times when you can register for classes, go to the DUCK, and select "Check Your Registration Status" on the Registration menu.
7. Register for classes. When you enter the DUCK, go to “Academic and Financial Info for Students” then click “Registration.” From the Registration menu click “Build Your Class Schedule” and select the term (semester). Every course section has a unique five-digit CRN listed in the schedule. It is very important that you enter the correct CRN when registering because this is how the computer knows what classes you want. Enter the CRN for the course you want to take and click Submit Changes. If you get an error message indicating that the section you want is closed, try the CLASS SEARCH button to see if alternative sections are available. Continue this process until you have built your schedule.
8. Print Your Schedule. You should print a copy of your schedule and Summary of Fees directly from the DUCK. Schedules can be printed from any SmartPrint location.
9. Buy your textbooks on line. You can purchase your textbooks in the traditional way at the Campus Store or you can buy online. Go to http://www.ccsuestore.com. This will site will tell you how to purchase textbooks and other course materials via the Internet.
10. Schedule Adjustments for Enrolled Students. Schedule Adjustments are done on the DUCK. To conduct a schedule change, log on to the DUCK during the schedule adjustment period and follow the schedule change directions in the "Build Your Class Schedule" section. (See the registration section earlier in the booklet for instructions about how to get into the DUCK.) Courses dropped during the schedule adjustment period will not show on the student transcript. At the end of the schedule adjustment period, enrollment becomes official. All courses will show on the student transcript and the student is financially obligated to pay.
All fees must be paid by the deadline indicated on the Academic Calendar (above). Pay in person at the Bursar’s Office until 7:00 p.m. or online until 11:59 p.m. A $100.00 late registration fee will be applied to all registrations initiated after December 9. There are five convenient ways to pay your bill:
1. Pay by Financial Aid/Scholarship (if applicable). If you have been officially awarded financial aid (including certain loans) or Clayton State-administered scholarship, after you have completed “Build Your Class Schedule” return to the “Registration” menu and click “How much do I owe?" Review the “Fee Summary”. This summary will outline your “Financial Aid Information”, “Charge and Fee Information”, and “Payment and Credit Information”. Please note that a negative balance (i.e. $-1.00) under “Payment and Credit Information” means that your tuition and fees have been covered and that you may receive a financial aid refund for other expenses. If you still owe a balance after the financial aid or scholarship has been applied (or if your financial aid or scholarship has not yet been credited to your account), then you must pay the balance due by one of the methods below.
2. Pay by credit card using the DUCK. When you are registering on the web via the DUCK, click the button “How much do I owe?" and then click "pay fees." Follow the instructions at that point if you wish to pay your balance in full by credit card. Visa®, MasterCard®, and American Express® and Discover Card are accepted. Please be assured that Clayton State has adhered to the highest industry standards for the security of electronic payments.
3. Pay by mail. (check or money order -- no cash). Please note that the fee payment deadline is based on when Clayton State receives the payment -- not on the postmark. Send mail to:
Bursar’s Office
Clayton State University
2000 Clayton State Blvd.
Morrow, GA 30260
4. Pay in person at the Bursar’s Office or the Laker Card Office.
· Bursar’s Office now located in the upper level of the Student Center, Room 278
o normal business hours (8-5 M-F).
o extended evening hours as posted.
· Laker Card Office. When the Bursar’s Office is closed, you can pay in person at the Laker office on the 1st floor of the University Center (5-8 pm – M-Th)
5. Pay at a secure drop box. (check, money order, or credit card – no cash. Special credit card forms are available at the drop boxes).
>> Administration Building (just inside the east door)
Payments must be in the box by the payment deadline.
A registered student who has failed to attend class (in person or by electronic equivalent) by the final payment deadline for the term, is considered a “no show.” The “no show” student will be administratively withdrawn and will not be reinstated. The “no show” student is obligated to pay for all registration in effect at the end of drop-add even though he or she did not attend. Proportional refund will be made to students who are “no show” in all classes. No refund is made to students who are “no show” in one or more classes but who have attended other classes.
