MYRIDESMART AND UNIVERSITY RIDESHARE AT CLAYTON STATE
UNIVERSITY
The Atlanta
Regional Commission (ARC) is responsible for regional planning and
intergovernmental coordination for a 10-county area including Cherokee,
Clayton, Cobb, DeKalb, Douglas, Fayette, Fulton, Gwinnett, Henry, and Rockdale
counties, as well as the City of Atlanta.
Clayton
State University received a grant from the Atlanta Regional Commission to
encourage employees and students to use alternate transportation, improve the
air quality, and reduce traffic congestion. University RideShare
uses the MyRideSmart database to match students with
students and employees with employees. This database is confidential and the
information is not shared with marketing companies.
MyRideSmart also operates and
maintains a confidential, computerized regional ridematch
database that matches commuters in the Atlanta region with potential carpool
partners and provides vanpool information. The MyRideSmart
database serves individual commuters as well as
employer services organizations, such as Transportation Management Associations
(TMA's) and The Clean Air Campaign.
Individuals
can apply for ridematching assistance by calling a
toll-free hotline, MyRideSmart (1-877-433-3463), or
by clicking the Ridematch Application button on www.MyRideSmart.com
web page. Commuters can also obtain immediate ridematch
results by using the ARC's web-based, On-Line RideMatching
system (OLRM). Use the OLRM link to find out how you can search for ridematch partners 24 hours a day, at your convenience, as
often as you like, in a secure environment.
Employees
of Clayton State University (not available to students) who take
alternate transportation may be eligible for the Guaranteed Ride Home. Funding
and administrative support for employer-administered Guaranteed Ride Home (GRH)
programs is provided by the TDM Division. GRH pays for up to five free rides
per year for commuters who carpool, vanpool, walk, bike or take transit to
work, and have an emergency or must work mandatory
unscheduled overtime. Clayton State is a participant in the GRH.
Interested
participants with other employers can find out if their TMA or employer
participates in the regional GRH program by clicking the GRH button and
following the on-screen instructions from the MyRidesmart web page.
