Three employees, Pat Barton, Sherry Barwick, and Michelle Craig, carpooled together in June and not only saved two parking spaces on campus, but saved over 700 miles by not driving alone. The Clean Air Campaign estimates that for one person to drive 25 miles one way, the cost to drive alone would be $352 a month. If this person carpooled with two others and shared the driving, the cost per month only would be $117--a savings of $235 per month. All three winners work in Financial Aid and have enjoyed carpooling together. It gives them time to "chat" about non-work topics and they save money too. In addition to the trophies, Michael Clark, Integrated Wellness at SmartBodies, volunteered to bring his "specially designed chair" and give Chair Massages to each of the winners just outside of their office. We appreciate their efforts to help the environment and for Michael Clark by being a great supporter of the University RideShare program. |
