CHILI COOK OFF APPLICATION & INFORMATION

Thank you for agreeing to bring a pot or crock pot of chili for the Women’s Forum Fourth Annual Chili Cook Off. This chili cook off is in conjunction with the Women’s Forum Online Auction. Proceeds from the Auction and the Chili Cook Off will go to the Women’s Forum Scholarship Fund, which funds scholarship for students and Clayton State University staff members. Each chili entry will be judged by a committee and by those who taste/vote(see below) and also will be sold and served to Clayton State University students, staff, and faculty members at lunch. One regular bowl or three tasting-size bowls of chili will be sold for $5, with $4 going to the Women's Forum Scholarship Fund.  This includes the cheese/topping, crackers/fritos/chips, drink, and candy/cookies.

Chili Cook Off Format and Important Information: Chili entries may be by an individuals or by departments/schools. Each entry should include a pot of chili, cheese (or appropriate topping), and the crackers, fritos, or chips that best compliment the chili (be sure to bring a large size box or bag of crackers, fritos, or chips). Also, please decorate your table space to compliment your chili.  Each pot of chili will be given a number so the cook/entrant will be anonymous; however, you need to provide your chili with a name that describes your chili so those eating the chili will have an idea of what to expect when they eat your chili.

Judging:  There are two judging categories:  Judges' Choice and People's Choice.  Chili entries will be judged by a committee of representatives from across campus (approximately 5 judges). The judges will determine the winners by sampling each chili entry. Each judge will rate the taste, aroma, texture, originality and table decorations of each chili entry and then the committee will determine the winner in the Judges' Choice category.  For the People's Choice category, one voting ballot will be given to each person who purchases chili.  Everyone who chooses to cast a ballot for his/her favorite chili may do so.  If additional votes are desired, votes may be purchased for .25.  The winner of the People's Choice category will be determined by the chili entry with the highest number of votes.  Prizes will be given in both judging categories.  Pre-registration is required to be considered for either judging category.

Chili Cook Off Set Up: You (or your designee) should bring the chili, cheese (or appropriate topping), decorations, and crackers, fritos, or chips to the first level of the University Center by 10:15 a.m. on Wednesday, November 14, 2007. We will have tables set up, extension cords, multi plugs, and serving spoons. We will also have someone available to serve your chili, so all you we need from you is your pot of chili and your cheese, crackers, fritos, or chips. To keep your chili warm (or hot in many cases), you will probably want to bring it in a crock pot. We will not have any other mechanism for keeping your chili warm except extension cords and multi plugs. You (or your designee) should pick up your chili pot between 1:15 pm and 1:30 p.m. following the Cook Off on November 14.

Chili Name: You need to give your chili a name that describes it, so those eating the chili will have an idea of what to expect when they eat your chili. Some examples might be Western Texas Chili At Its Best; HOT Peppers Chili, A Woman’s Chili: Powerful Yet Subtle, A Sweet Bite, etc.

Please complete the online application below.  We must have your application no later than November 7, 2007.   Entries limited to the first 20 registered; this is the number of pots we can accommodate on the electrical outlets.
